Following the publication of the 2012 annual State of the Nation: K-12 Online Learning in Canada report, the research team began seeking a new foundational partner for the project. Founded in 2014 as a national non-profit, the Canadian eLearning Network (CANeLearn) was accepted as the project’s foundational partner prior to the release of the 2014 annual State of the Nation: K-12 Online Learning in Canada report. That same year CANeLearn‘s Chief Executive Officer, Randy LaBonte, was added as a contributing author of the annual report.
To reflect both the expanding nature of the field and the new partnership with CANeLearn the 2015 annual report was renamed the State of the Nation: K-12 e-Learning in Canada. CANeLearn has remained a project partner since 2014.
