Welcome to virtual French-language school in Ontario
ViaVirtuel provides full-time education in French to students from Grades 1 through 8
Filling an important gap in francophone public education in Ontario, ViaVirtuel was originally created during the pandemic as part of the Ministry of Education’s requirement to provide virtual teaching. It’s now just like a regular school, except that everything takes place online.
“After COVID, the ministry asked that at least one school board continue to offer virtual teaching,” says Isabelle Turcotte, Conseil scolaire Viamonde’s superintendent of education, about the virtual French elementary school program that launched in 2020.
“We took the lead to become that school board, and three other public school boards joined us to be able to serve their students.”

In addition to providing an alternative to homeschooling for families who want at-home learning but still want to benefit from interactive and engaging instruction provided by qualified teachers, it’s an excellent option for children who live far away from a French-language school, are not able to physically attend their local or regional French-language public school, don’t have access to transportation or are being introduced to French for the first time.

As the article outlines quite well, there are any number of reasons why students and their families choose e-learning as an appropriate option for them.
